Polaris Wireless Receives Frost & Sullivan "2011 Enabling Technology of the Year Award"

Polaris Wireless, the global leader in high-accuracy, software-based wireless location solutions, today announced that the company has received the prestigious Frost & Sullivan "2011 Enabling Technology of the Year" award. The award recognizes Polaris Wireless' accomplishments and leadership in developing location solutions for public safety, lawful location surveillance, and other location-based services.Frost & Sullivan presents this award based on Polaris Wireless' development and deployment of its OmniLocate universal location platform, which provides location capabilities in 2G (GSM/CDMA), 3G (UMTS/ WCDMA), and emerging 4G (LTE) air interfaces, as well as indoor technologies such as Wi-Fi, DAS, and Femtocells.

"The Polaris Wireless OmniLocate platform offers a compelling set of capabilities and benefits that address the major drawbacks of existing location determination solutions," says Brent Iadarola, global research director for Frost & Sullivan's Mobile Communications Group. "It is capable of providing the necessary location accuracy for use in both mission-critical public safety and lawful location surveillance applications, as well as commercial location services such as friend-finder and mobile advertising."

OmniLocate is the choice of more than two dozen wireless operators in the U.S. for FCC-mandated E911 emergency call location, proving its effectiveness for safety of life applications. Polaris Wireless is the only company capable of implementing an accurate mass location capability and is a leader in enabling real-time, high-accuracy location to assist authorized law enforcement agencies in criminal investigations and antiterrorist activities. The award also recognizes the growing market for location-based services, which is expected to reach $1.58 billion in North America alone by 2015.

OmniLocate incorporates the patented Polaris Wireless Location Signatures (Polaris WLS®) technology, which determines device location by comparing radio measurements reported by the wireless device to those in a comprehensive network database. The result is the most accurate, most reliable location performance of its type. Polaris WLS® can be deployed together with other location methods, such as A-GPS, Enhanced Cell-ID, and basic Cell-ID, in both hybrid and fallback scenarios, and thus is able to locate any device in any environment, even in urban areas and indoors.

"We are honored to be recognized for our accomplishments in developing the most accurate software-based wireless location solution available in the market today," said Bhavin Shah, vice president of marketing and business development for Polaris Wireless. "This prestigious award is particularly significant to Polaris Wireless because of Frost & Sullivan's rigorous and unbiased selection process."
