History
Polaris Wireless is a pioneer in the development of high-accuracy, software-based location solutions
A strong track record of innovation and growth.
In 1999, Polaris Wireless was founded by Silicon Valley visionaries who invented, developed, and patented Wireless Location Signatures (WLS™) technology. After successfully performing multiple field trials of Polaris WLS in the US and Europe on GSM and TDMA networks, Polaris Wireless was awarded its first public safety contract with SunCom (now part of T-Mobile USA) in 2003. After expanding its deployments across 24 wireless operator networks in the US, in 2008 the company entered the field it would soon come to dominate, winning its first surveillance contract with three UMTS wireless operators in Asia-Pacific.
Since then, Polaris Wireless has continued to expand its patent portfolio and public safety and location surveillance deployments worldwide. In 2010, the company won a multi-million dollar surveillance contract involving two GSM/UMTS operators in the EMEA region, was awarded a managed E911 services contract with Globecomm and Telecommunications Systems (TCS) for their respective carrier customers, and opened a regional headquarters in Dubai, UAE to serve its growing clientele in the region.
Polaris Wireless was the recipient of the 2011 Frost & Sullivan Location-Based Services Enabling Technology Award. Soon after the company was awarded the first contract for a high-accuracy, real-time and historical tracking, mass location solution in Africa. Polaris Wireless continued to expand its global presence with two deployments on 2G/3G networks in the Middle East for lawful and mass location surveillance and successful field trials proving the attainability of the location mandate in India.
Polaris Wireless continued its profitable growth and announced record bookings for 2011, validated by the company’s first appearance on the 2012 Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies.
